This is a unique opportunity for an individual looking to grow into future leadership roles by contributing meaningfully to patient flow, team development, and strategic initiatives across multiple service areas.

This role reports directly to the Director of Nursing, Emergency Division, and acts as an integral partner to the ED nurse managers at both Salem Hospital and West Valley Hospital, assisting with leadership coverage and project-based improvement efforts. You will work cross-functionally with providers, ancillary departments, and quality teams to enhance patient experience and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate for this position will be:

  • Dynamic and data-driven; eager to independently generate, analyze, and present data in a direct manner that leads to informed decision making.

  • Curious and proactive; naturally inclined to ask questions, analyze data, and seek better ways of doing things.
  • Confident and collaborative; a strong problem-solver who exudes poise while working with organizational leaders, physicians, and operational partners.
  • Adaptable; able to flex their schedule occasionally and pivot across multiple service lines and day/night shifts when needed.
  • Looking for growth; a future nurse leader eager to deepen their management skills and make meaningful contributions to patient care and operations.

What you'll do

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Lead daily data-driven assessments to identify barriers to throughput and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Participate in the Emergency Executive Committee (EEC) and report out on low acuity flow metrics.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including providers, Radiology, Transport, Access Services, and more.

Quality & Performance Improvement

  • Cover for ED leadership during absences.
  • Serve as a mentor to staff and a partner to leadership.
  • Assist with staffing support, orientation, and training efforts across multiple sites (including West Valley ED, Clinical Decision Unit, and Trauma/Psych Services).
