Position Type: Full Time, 36 hours/week, Non-Exempt
Start Time: 7:00 pm – 7:30 am, 3 – 12 hour shifts/week, Monday, Tuesday and alternating weekends

Your role with us

 

In this role at Salem Health, you will support patient care through effective communication, continuous cardiac and video monitoring, and accurate documentation in accordance with hospital policies. You will transcribe non-medication orders during downtime, maintain medical records, and assist with clerical and safety tasks to ensure smooth unit operations. Additionally, you'll contribute to team development by orienting new staff and adapting communication to meet the diverse needs of patients, families, and healthcare providers.

What you'll do

 

  • Communicates effectively and respectfully with staff, patients, and families, tailoring communication to meet age-specific needs and promptly responding to calls, alarms, and observations.
  • Monitors and documents telemetry rhythms according to Salem Health guidelines, promptly notifying staff of critical alarms and demonstrating proficiency with telemetry systems.
  • Maintains accurate medical records and documentation, especially during downtime, including EKG monitoring, order transcription (non-medication), and patient information entry.
  • Supports patient safety by following infection control policies, maintaining a clutter-free environment, and ensuring continuous cardiac and video monitoring.
  • Assumes clerical and support responsibilities such as running errands, maintaining telemetry logs, and completing computer-based tasks as needed.
  • Contributes to team development by orienting and training new staff on department systems, policies, and workflows.

 

Additional information

  • Recent experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Experience in telemetry monitoring preferred. 
  • This position requires on site presence at Salem Hospital campus.
