Your role with us
As a maintenance engineer at Salem Health, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our central energy plant (CEP) and hospital infrastructure. With expertise in boiler operations and maintenance, you'll perform complex repairs, installations, and modifications to hospital equipment and buildings, while also responding to emergency situations and maintaining accurate records. This role requires a skilled engineer who can work independently to keep our facilities running smoothly and safely.
What you'll do
- With limited supervision, performs a variety of minor and complex repairs, installations, and modifications to hospital equipment and buildings.
- Completes assigned maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications and hospital standards.
- Performs watch standing activities on physical building and hospital equipment.
- Responds to and resolves emergency situations on systems and equipment.
- Maintains repair and preventative maintenance history by accurately documenting maintenance and operational records in electronic maintenance management system.
- Communicates accurate and pertinent information regarding maintenance requests to customers, co-workers and leadership in a timely manner; Monitors and orders facilities maintenance supplies as needed.
- Participates in department committees and decision-making activities; Assists in training as requested.
- Provides assistance to co-workers and department leads as needed; Keeps work areas clean and safe, picking up debris at work sites and surrounding areas.
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of four years of boiler and steam system maintenance or equivalent experience.
- Valid Oregon driver’s license and be eligible for authorization according to Salem Health’s Fleet Safety Program policy within four months of hire, maintaining it thereafter.
