What are employers talking about? Staffing challenges …. getting good people in the door and keeping them. So let’s talk!! Recognition and praise at work makes employees twice as likely to stay with their employer through tough times. (Gallup). Finding talent is tough, which makes keeping the talent you have even more vital. Poor retention rates cost businesses billions every year, while higher retention can increase your profits by as much as 400%.
 
In this program our goal is explore what you can do to begin the retention vibe at the very beginning…..and turn the candidate experience into the employee experience. We’ll discuss both short-term and long-term ideas and suggestions for retention – some cost a few dollars and some that have no cost at all.
 
You will learn new ideas around:
·     Onboarding activities;
·     Your benefit offerings;
·     The importance of belonging;
·     Creating a culture of gratitude; and
·     Other tips and ideas for employee engagement and fulfillment (not just satisfaction)
 
About the Speaker
Deborah has nearly 40 years’ experience in the human resources field (over 30 in consulting alone). As a consultant, coach, recruiter and trainer, Deborah works with organizations on the employment processes/activities, performance management, coaching/counseling, recognition, customer service, harassment, supervision, leadership, improved communication and more.
 
Deborah’s past work experience includes recruiting, training, education, sales and marketing, as well as HR in retail, restaurant, staffing, professional services and manufacturing environments. She holds a BS in Psychology and a teaching certificate from Willamette University, and is a Certified Professional Consultant (CPC). In addition, Deborah has served as Adjunct Facility at Portland State, Willamette University, Marylhurst College, and Linfield College. She also has her HR certifications through SHRM and HRCI.
 
Clients comment on her no-nonsense practical approach, her energy and her positive attitude. Deborah engages, motivates and encourages those she works with toward self-improvement and self-reflection to build up their skills to become part of a team that creates and reinforces great places to work.
