Historical Fashion Presentation - LaRee Johnson

The Stayton Public Library is excited to announce a visit featuring avid collector and presenter of vintage fashions LaRee Johnson on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 7:00 pm in the E. G. Siegmund Meeting Room. In honor of Women’s History Month, she will be speaking on Handkerchiefs and their use by women for all of society and life’s moments. She will have examples from her collection to view. There will be a reception accompanying the event. LaRee Johnson, an Astoria resident, is an avid collector and presenter of vintage fashions, with programs from aprons to wedding gowns. She has authored and photographed Ladies’ Vintage Accessories, a comprehensive value and identification guide on ladies vintage fashion accessories from mid-1800’s to modern. LaRee and her husband, Andrew E. Cier, have collaborated on the self-published Destination: The Pacific Guidebook and Personal Journal, listing all the Lewis & Clark sites at the mouth of the Columbia River from Long Beach, WA to Cannon Beach, OR. She directed and produced HERstory, a video filmed by Mick Alderman, the journals of 3 Pioneer women, including Mary Riddle who settled with her family in Clatsop County. The journals are read and set in Clatsop County locations. She is active in the community with membership in the Clatsop County Historical Society and the Lower Columbia Preservation Society. She shares a working studio with her husband in downtown Astoria. This Stayton Public Library speaking event is sponsored by the Stayton Friends of the Library and the Abigail Scott Duniway Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
