Good Afternoon Team! I wanted to pass along an invitation from the City of Turner :
You’re invited to the City of Turner’s Peace Tree Planting Ceremony!
Please save the date, Thursday March 31, at 10:30 am at David Sawyer Park, 7050 5th Street SE in Turner.
The gingko tree was grown from seeds of trees that survived the bombing of Hiroshima. These seeds were collected by the non-profit organization Green Legacy Hiroshima which sends them around the world as ambassadors of peace. The seeds were germinated and grown by Mike Oxendine with Oregon Community Trees, then gifted to the City of Turner by the Oregon Department of Forestry. Enjoy the brief ceremony, watch the planting of the gingko tree, view the gorgeous plaque and peace pole that the Cascade High School Metal Shop students designed and built and enjoy some time with others from the greater Turner community.
