A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN EARLY HEAD START TEACHER
As an Early Head Start Teacher at FBB, you will create and manage an attractive, safe, warm, and challenging learning environment for infants and toddlers; going beyond the classroom and into the homes of families we serve. You will bridge the gap between home and classroom; recognizing parents as the child's first teacher and building upon each family's strengths to meet this goal. You will incorporate developmentally appropriate learning, caregiving, and early intervention activities to meet the needs of the group as well as the individual children and families. You will conduct weekly home visits to families that focus on child development and family support in the following ways: giving parents additional tools to be their child's first teacher and advocate, providing developmentally appropriate parenting information, supporting family goals, health tracking, completing developmental screenings and assessment for children and helping families access community resources. All activities occur in accordance with the Head Start Performance Standards, and the Head Start Act.
- CDA Credential in Early Childhood Education, OR comparable credential (20 quarter credit hours) from an accredited institution with a focus on infant/toddler development, OR the equivalent combination of training and course work (ORO Step 8.5) in early childhood development with a focus on infant/toddler development OR Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education with infant/toddler coursework.
- Six months of experience working in an infant/toddler classroom in a related environment.
