CASE MANAGER SUMMARY: We are looking for a dependable and compassionate individual to join our team to help support children and families experiencing foster care. Salem Angels is an innovative nonprot that seeks to change the way children, youth and families experience the foster care system. We believe that if we can get every child/youth/family in the foster care system in our programs, we have a great chance of changing the world we live in. Our fast-growing organization has a start-up mentality, but high level of professionalism and drive that is not found in most nonprots. We are looking for a creative, innovative self-starter who exudes these four core competencies: Professionalism, Passion, Initiative, and Adaptability. HISTORY: Established in 2010, Austin Angels began to wrap community around children in the foster care system, as well as their caretakers, by offering consistent support through intentional giving, relationship-building, and mentorship. The programs were created to help empower children and build sustainable foster homes. Our solution to the foster care crisis is the Love Box family support program and Dare to Dream youth mentor program. Our programs utilize a trauma-informed, wrap-around service model that strengthens relationships between foster families, youth in foster care, and bio families. In 2016, Austin launched its rst chapter in Amarillo, Texas, and has grown to 19 chapters across the nation.
GENERAL OVERVIEW: The main role of a case manager involves the matching of volunteers/mentors with foster families/youth in foster care, facilitating a needs assessment, conducting the training of all volunteers, monitoring the ongoing success and challenges with matched cases, and gathering stories to be used in impact reports. .
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: ● Work as directed to support the mission and values of Salem Angels. ● Engage in discussions around sensitive topics including child abuse, neglect, trauma, mental health, poverty, substance abuse, trust-based relational intervention, rehabilitation, social adjustment, therapeutic needs, child demographics, case trajectory, family preservation and child relational concerns. Utilize these discussions to advocate and make decisions for the best interest of the client. ● Assist with recruiting new volunteer/volunteer groups. Ability to speak about programs during networking and/or presentations for volunteer recruitment. ● Facilitate needs assessment/initial meetup between foster family/youth and volunteer/mentor and conduct training for volunteer groups/mentors. These can be held in the evenings or on weekends due to the volunteer/foster family availability. ● Respond to all volunteer interest from website/direct email within 24 hours. ● Build and maintain partnerships with local ODHS and other child welfare organizations. ● Interview volunteers to nd the best match within the Salem Angels organization. ● Gather foster family/youth referrals’ information including their background information, needs, and denographics to determine the best volunteer match to meet their needs. ● Ensure volunteers complete all on-board requirements. Serve as liaison between volunteer, foster family and placement agency. ● Maintain case history records and prepare impact reports from testimonies of foster families, youth, and children served through programs. ● Conduct ongoing monitoring of volunteer contact and tracking of relational outcomes for children/youth in the National Angels program. ● Resolve program complaints and requests to change volunteer matching arrangements. ● Identify and collaborate with other local partners to provide resources to families and youth referred to National Angels. ● Be part of/attend/serve at events including fundraising, community awareness initiatives, events for families, youth, and children which may occur over weekends or evenings.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: ● A qualied candidate will be a highly skilled communicator with strong interpersonal skills and abilities to quickly curate trust-based connections (including foster families, foster youth, volunteers, mentors, corporate partners, and other Salem Angels’ supporters). This person will possess knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; and psychological needs. ● Salem Angels is not a religious organization and accepts all people as they are. WORK CONTEXT: Page | 2 The Case Manager will manage 30 cases when operating at full capacity. This position requires a mixture of working in a traditional ofce setting and traveling to agency locations, needs assessments, trainings and/or outreach events. New hires will complete a training and on-boarding process with the National Angels Program Trainer. Case managers will be required to attend afore-mentioned fundraising events as well as community awareness initiatives, events for families, youth, and children, trainings and needs assessments over weekends or evenings periodically.

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED ● Associate Degree and 2+ years of related experience ● Bachelor's Degree and 1 + year of related experience ● Masters Degree and 6+ months of related experience ● Background in social services and/or related elds. ● Bilingual.
