New CASA Spring Training

  • Share:
Name: New CASA Spring Training
Date: April 16, 2021
Time: 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM PDT
Event Description:
Volunteer to Change a Child's Story! Nobody longs for a safe and loving home more than a child in foster care. As a court-appointed special advocate (CASA) you will be empowered by the court to help make this dream a reality. Each CASA volunteer is required to participate in an action-packed, 30-hour pre-service training course that will be broken down as follows: Training will be split into ten (10) manditory - 3 hour sessions. Training begins Friday, March 12, 2021 and will be held weekly on Fridays through May 19, 2021. Training will be from 4pm to 7pm, and will be held at the Dallas Civic Center, located at 945 Jefferson Street in Dallas. The training will give you the tools, rules, situations and resources for being the best CASA you can be! TRAINING AND MATERIALS ARE ABSOLUTELY FREE!!! What do CASA Volunteers do? Our volunteers listen first. Then they act. Volunteers get to know the child by talking with everyone in that child's life: parents and relatives, foster parents, teachers, medical professionals, attorneys, social workers and others. They use the information they gather to help judges and others understand what the child needs and to help the child find a safe, permanent home. Who Can Be a Volunteer? You do not have to be a lawyer or a social worker to be a volunteer. We welcome people from all walks of life. We are simply looking for people who care about children and have common sense. As a advocate, you will be thoroughly trained and well-supported by professional staff, who will help you through each case. If interested please attend our New CASA Orientation Friday, February 26 at 5pm at the Polk County Courthouse in Dallas OR. For questions or to sign-up contact Mike Barnett at mikebarnett1@msn.com
