Event Description:
After a brief history of the Brown House (Stayton’s first hospital), the tour will proceed to several shops downtown, accompanied by a Victorian costumed guide who will share history and stories about Historic Downtown Stayton. Shop windows will be decorated- vote for best-decorated window. Participants are encouraged to wear a costume. You are welcome to check in at Brown House as early as 4:00 p.m. and you can collect your chocolates, shop, or eat either before or after your tour. Several businesses will be open for you to browse or eat. After hearing history about several buildings, participants will receive handmade Victorian chocolate treats from participating stores when you return to those locations. This is approximately a 6 block walking tour that includes stairs so may not be suitable for persons with limited mobility.
