DESCRIPTION:We are "unleashing" our 8th annual Walk-n-Wag event in 2020 to engage our pet- and people-loving community in new ways due to Covid-19. Join us in a virtual race for teams and individuals\, with 6 weeks of fun contests\, virtual and live activities\, and terrific prizes like gift baskets\, painted pet portraits\, and commemorative pins.\n\n\n\nAn online map will track the footstep and fundraising progress of every participant in real time. Steps can be earned by walking and running\, as well as activities that help neighbors with pets\, or support those who are grieving. People can even link their fitness tracker (e.g. Fitbit\, Apple Watch) to the event app. Help us reach our goal of 200 people\, 20 million steps\, and $20\,000.\n\n\n\nWalk-n-Wag funds raised will help hospice patients care for their pets through Willamette Valley Hospice's Pet Peace of Mind  program. This year\, Walk-n-Wag is lending a paw to WVH's bereavement programs. The pandemic has led to tremendous grief in our world through illness and death\, and with the loss of so many important social connections. 2020 is a good year to come together in new ways to keep our balance and support one another.\n\n\n\nIndividuals\, groups and businesses can help by spreading the word\, signing up to walk\, ordering a t-shirt or sweatshirt\, forming a team\, or donating gift baskets or certificates (by July 28th) to be given as prizes. Let's all step out together! Register on August 1\, 2020 at wvh.org/pets. Contests and prizes run from August 9-September 17\, 2020.
