Blazer Industries, Inc. is a privately owned and operated commercial construction company. We are on the search for a positive, hardworking, experienced candidate to add to our team. We are looking for someone interested in learning, innovation, and collaborating with others to continuously improve our processes and the work we do.
Our Plumbing Estimator works as a member of our Estimating Team and is responsible for developing plumbing cost estimates to include materials and labor based on building plans and specifications. We have licensed journeyman plumbers on staff and are part of the state plumbing apprenticeship training program, so the work being estimated comes to fruition by our in-house team located on our property.
Most plumbing systems we design, and install are PEX (water), and PVC (drain, waste, vent). We have a small number of projects come through that require copper, cast iron, and/or medical gas. The majority of plumbing systems we design, and install are less complex, but as with the variety of buildings we produce, we also see a variety in the plumbing work we do.
-Design and prepare isometric drawings of plumbing systems for building projects utilizing AutoCAD software.
-Review and analyze bid plans and specifications to determine constructability and develop construction costs to generate preliminary and final plumbing cost estimates.
-Work with our in-house Codes Specialist to ensure plumbing design complies with applicable codes.-Work with our Production and Design Teams to look for innovative ideas for continually improving our processes.
-Ability to design and estimate plumbing systems.
-Proficient in AutoCAD or ability to quickly learn AutoCAD as it pertains to isometric drawings.
-Knowledge of standard construction and design techniques, materials, practices, and methods in residential and commercial systems. We do a very small amount of residential work, but this knowledge is helpful.
-Thorough knowledge of all phases of plumbing installation in residential and commercial systems. Familiar with industrial installation.
-Basic working knowledge of the cost of goods and services.
-Ability to review and understand prints, basic floor plans, sketches, or full construction drawings and specifications.
-Excellent math skills (including figuring building dimensions such as square feet, linear feet, board feet, etc.).
-Ability to figure accurate construction take-offs.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-Proficient with computer software used in office environments and the construction industry.
-Excellent time management and organizational skills.
-Must have a good memory.
