Job Description

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may also be assigned):

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to execute each requirement satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability needed for the position.

  1. Holds current valid Oregon Teaching License with appropriate grade level/subject area endorsement
  2. 5 years of teaching experience preferred at a proficient rating level
  3. Demonstrated expertise in area of specialization 
  4. Ability to present to large group of adults 
  5. Served in a leadership role in the district or building 
  6. Ability to assist in establishing and maintaining an effective learning climate in the schools
  7. Ability to interpret and implement all Board Policies, administrative regulations, and negotiated agreements
  8. Ability to provide direction to others and to make independent judgments
  9. Ability to work with the Collaborative Steering Committee and other constituent groups to determine and support needs for improvement in curriculum, instruction, and professional development
  10. Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with students, parents, teachers and community
  11. Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with student, staff and/or parent information
  12. Attend and participate in all required scheduled meetings and workshops
  13. Ability to communicate with individuals of varied cultural and educational backgrounds
  14. Ability to keep and maintain accurate records and meet deadlines
  15. Coordinate professional growth and strengthen professional teaching knowledge, skills and strategies through an ongoing program of workshops, seminars, conferences, etc.
  16. Establish a positive rapport with faculty and staff
  17. Take all reasonable and necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities
  18. Maintain a professional evaluation average 3 or higher with no 1s
  19. Model BERC instructional strategies during presentations


Instructional Coach Obligations

  • Provide individualized, classroom-based coaching by modeling strategies, teaching side by side, and observing with a pre and post discussion analysis.
  • Develop teachers’ capacity to collect and analyze multiple sources of data to improve student learning.
  • Develop lesson plans with teachers based on student needs.
  • Provide ongoing training and support to ensure teachers use of research-based best practices identified in the teacher evaluation system
  • Participate in ongoing personal professional development experiences as a means of enhancing the instructional, intervention, and assessment support provided to teachers.
  • Facilitate conversations about instructional practices with individual teachers, grade-level teams, whole staffs, and other groups
  • Facilitate data discussions that focus on transferring new knowledge into classroom practice.
  • Track student and teacher progress to assess the effectiveness of coaching.
  • Submit quarterly reports and other documentation as requested by the Associate Superintendent


Performs other related duties as assigned.


Perform physical requirements which may include:

  1.     Moderate to extensive degree of physical and emotional stamina;
  2.     Frequent and prolonged standing, walking, and sitting;
  3.     Ability to restrain students when necessary
  4.     Frequent and prolonged talking/hearing conversations;
  5.     Ability to physically lift or move to a student on a regular basis; and
  6.      Possible exposure to bodily fluids due to student injury and illness
  •                 Such alternative to the above requirements as the School Board or Administration may deem appropriate and acceptable



  1.      Master’s degree with specific, current and valid Oregon Teacher licensure with three-to-ten years related experience;
  2.      Possess a valid First Aid card if required
  3.      Possess a valid Oregon Driver’s License if required
  4.      Bloodborne Pathogens Training/Hepatitis B Shot Series Training as required


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  The physical demands described here (listed above and on the physical demand sheet) are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 70% to 80% sitting, up to 20% walking, and up to 20% standing.
