PAY: $17.93 to 22.42 per hour, dependent upon prior experience

NSSD Options Academy operates as an alternative to traditional learning environments. For grades K-8, it is available only as a virtual (online) platform. For grades 9-12, students can choose to learn solely online (Stayton Virtual Academy) or apply to participate in an in-person, teacher-led instructional environment (Locust St. Academy).
At time of hire, candidates must qualify by having met at least one of the following requirements:
  • Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education
  • Obtain an Associate’s Degree or higher; or
  • Demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic assessment, the knowledge of and ability to assist in the instruction of reading, writing, and mathematics or the instruction in readiness for these subjects. Paraprofessionals qualifying under this criterion must have a high school diploma or equivalent as a prerequisite.
Qualifications: May include but are not limited to the following
  • High school diploma and four years general office experience; or any combination of education and experience which would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge, and ability required to perform the job.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of managing student records and transcripts consistent with state, federal, and District guidelines.
  • Knowledge of and ability to compile, analyze, and evaluate data and prepare transcripts and reports based on such data.
  • Leads in collecting, aggregating, and submitting ODE reports, which may require pre-approved overtime.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use business English including reading, composition, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and letter formatting.
  • Ability to interpret credit status of transferred coursework from other institutions.
  • Ability to register and withdraw students from classes and/or school enrollment and assist in determining appropriate placement.
  • Ability to work independently prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to track demographics information related to student enrollment and dropouts. Assist the Business Manager in analyzing and correcting ADM issues.
  • Serve as a resource person for administration, district employees, parents, and students regarding curriculum requirements, student records, and transcripts.
  • Good oral communications skills and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a diversity of public and District personnel using tact, courtesy, and good judgment.
  • Ability to certify and issue official transcripts as requested.
  • Ability to establish routines and procedures within prescribed limits and develop recommendation changes as necessary.
  • Ability to research, compile, monitor, and maintain a variety of statistical records, confidential records, and reports related to student records.
  • Ability to interpret and apply rules, policies, procedures, regulations affecting assigned area of responsibility.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to physically perform assigned duties, including, but not limited to lift objects up to 25 lbs., and sit for extended periods of time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Knowledge of:
  • Managing student records and transcripts consistent with state, federal, and District guidelines
  • Principles of effective office practices, including organization, record-keeping systems, and work completion
  • Problem solving and analysis of data
  • High school course curriculum and NCES coding
  • Rules, policies, and laws regarding student registration
  • New Oregon Diploma requirements.
  • Technology and software applications needed to perform duties of this position
  • Statistical and analytical methods and techniques
  • Applicable rules, policies, procedures, and regulations affecting assigned area of responsibility
Ability to:
  • Understand, interpret and apply high school course curriculum and credit criteria
  • Research, analyze and perform mathematical computations
  • Evaluate and establish work priorities. Demonstrate good organizational skills.
  • Work effectively with a service-oriented attitude in a busy, high volume school office setting characterized by frequent interruptions
  • Multi-task with the ability to adapt quickly to changing situations
  • Enter and retrieve data using a computer and word processor and/or spreadsheet software programs; developing records and maintenance systems; maintaining records and generating reports
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including counselors and students
  • Demonstrate individual initiative and responsibility
  • Exercise diplomacy and tact and maintain a high level of professionalism. Promote public relations.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all matters relating to staff, students, and families
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Possess and maintain a valid First Aid card as required
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance
  • Bloodborne Pathogen Training / Hepatitis B Shot Series Training as required
North Santiam is a PBIS District Positive Behavior Supports (PBIS) focuses efforts on creating an environment that supports the educational environment. PBIS schools use school-wide and classroom positive reinforcement to promote expected behavior, teach behavioral expectations like academic skills, and use data-based information to guide intervention and management. This position is subject to a funded budget based on staffing needs. Specific assignment is subject to change.
