Job Goal / Purpose Statement:
This position serves two main roles in the District. The primary role is behavior specialist and preference is to have a School Psychologist license.
In performing the role of Behavior Specialist at Stayton Elementary School (K-3) and Stayton Intermediate/Middle School, applicants must be familiar with the implementation of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and the Response to Intervention (RTI) tiered intervention model. This role delivers direct 1:1, small and whole group behavior intervention activities, and supports self-contained Structured Learning Programs in each building. The Behavior Specialist performs evaluations for possible eligibility, facilitates Functional Behavior Assessments and develops and monitors behavior support plans.
The job of School Psychologist assesses students' cognitive, academic and emotional/social functional levels; provides information to program development and student placement; develops behavior plans; and provides information on child development and/or issues on specific students to instructional personnel. School Psychologists generates eligibility reports and independently or in conjunction with other licensed staff.
This position is expected to be a contributing member of school data teams and intervention teams as well as participate in other assigned school-based teams. The work calendar is 190 days long. Extra days may be available.
